ATLASLIVE EARTH OBSERVATORY

Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 26, 2026

ATLAS (atlaseyeview.com) is a live Earth-observation service that visualizes public data. This policy explains what information ATLAS collects, why, and how it is handled.

1. Account data

When you sign up we store your email address and password. Passwords are stored only as a one-way scrypt hash with a per-user salt — never in plain text. Your session is kept in a cookie (atlas_session) that holds a random session token; the server stores only the token's hash. The session cookie lasts up to 30 days.

2. Payments

Pro subscription payments are processed by Stripe. Card numbers never reach or are stored on ATLAS servers. ATLAS stores only your Stripe customer ID, subscription ID and current plan to manage your subscription state.

3. Community reports

When a Pro member posts a community report, we store the title, body, location, author display name (the part of the email before @) and any attached photo or video. Attachments are stored in a Cloudflare R2 bucket. Military/conflict and fire/accident reports are reviewed by an administrator before they are published, and every report always carries the 'User report · Unverified' label.

4. What we do not store on the server

Watch areas and alert settings are stored only in your browser's local storage and are never sent to the server. The map center is rounded to two decimal places and used only in server memory to select a vessel-feed region; it is not stored or linked to your account.

5. Cookies and advertising

ATLAS sets exactly one cookie: the sign-in session cookie. When advertising is enabled, free-plan users may see Google AdSense ads, in which case Google may use advertising cookies. Pro plans never show ads.

6. Data sources and third parties

ATLAS relays feeds from public and open data providers such as OpenSky, AISStream, CelesTrak, USGS, GDELT, WHO, NASA, NARA, Windy and Caltrans. Place search is proxied through our server to OpenStreetMap Nominatim, and verification / password-reset email is sent through a configured SMTP service.

7. Retention and deletion

Account data is kept while your account exists. To delete your account, contact us at the support email below. After verifying your identity we delete your account data and the reports you posted. There is currently no self-serve delete button.
